Do you have a blood sugar imbalance?

Blood sugar levels are a key indicator of metabolic health and the balance of blood sugar can affect our energy, hormones, thyroid, stress, immunity and more.

It’s something ALL of us can be aware of to support health and I honestly love talking about it because it can make such a huge difference in how we feel on a daily basis and that’s really what I care about.

Here are 3 clues you might be dealing with a blood sugar imbalance:

1. You experience energy crashes - if you have big dips in energy especially late afternoon it’s a good indicator you might be on the “blood sugar roller coaster” of ups and downs 🎢

2. You have strong cravings, especially for sugar, refined carbs and caffeine - cravings give us so much insight into what the body is needing to come into balance. I LOVE decoding cravings with my clients. These cravings can indicate the body needing more quick acting energy as a result of blood sugar ups and downs.

3. You’re always hungry! - if you never feel satiated it’s likely because there is a blood sguar imbalance and we want to look at the macronutrients of protein, fat, fiber and carbs to get you feeling full and have balanced energy.

And if you’re experiencing hormone imbalance (PMS, PCOS, thyroid issues), low energy or autoimmunity you definitely want to shore up blood sugar as a key first step!

Tune into the short video below to learn more! And leave me a comment if you have questions or want to go deeper on this for yourself. I’m taking on a few new 1:1 clients right now and would love to support you! 🦋

The 5 Components of my Flare-Up Toolkit

When it comes to autoimmune disease, I believe we should focus on progress, not perfection. Although we’d rather be symptom-free, flare-ups happen. Having a “Flare-Up Tool Kit” in place anytime symptoms come up can help guide you through without falling into overwhelm. Tune into this video to learn the 5 components of my flare-up toolkit!

THE 5 COMPONENTS OF MY FLARE-UP TOOLKIT

When we are working to try and achieve some sense of healing with autoimmune disease, a flare-up of symptoms can feel like a really disappointing setback. Especially if we have been feeling good and have noticed improved symptoms and quality of life, a flare-up can make us feel like we’re back at square one.

When I was first starting out on my healing journey with autoimmune disease 15 years ago, I imagined that I would change my diet, identify and fix the root cause issues going on in my body. Then, I would be “healed” and done. I had a very linear perception of what it meant to be healed and this outlook didn’t have any room for setbacks or flare-ups. I felt like I had come so far and done so much good work that if I had a flare-up of symptoms it meant I was a failure, that I had done something wrong or hadn’t tried hard enough.

Coaching hundreds of individuals through healing journeys, and riding the waves of my own, I have since learned that every single one has an upward trajectory, but the line usually has many ups and downs along the way. This is normal. It can be tempting to read stories of those who have “healed” themselves from autoimmune conditions by simply cutting out gluten and wonder why the process hasn’t looked so easy or linear for us. While that may be the experience for some, for most people healing is a process of learning, growing, experimenting, and recalibrating over time. When it comes to autoimmune disease, I believe we should focus on progress, not perfection.

Although we’d rather be symptom-free, flare-ups happen. Having a “Flare-Up Tool Kit” in place anytime symptoms come up can help guide you through without falling into overwhelm. Tune into the video to learn the 5 components of my flare-up toolkit, and if you need more support you’re always welcome to book in for a free discovery call where we can create a plan of action specifically for you.

The 3 Pillars of Autoimmune Health

I've been working with clients for YEARS to support their immune systems and live well with chronic illness and autoimmunity, and with every single person, we work through three pillars of autoimmune health to really support true healing. When we work with these three pillars it really gives us a framework and structure to work within that can be personalized to you and what your needs are. This post dives deeper into my 3 pillars of autoimmune health and the tools & knowledge you can use to support your body in both empowered and sustainable ways.

THE 3 PILLARS OF AUTOIMMUNE HEALTH

When we are starting out on our healing journey and supporting our bodies in healthy ways, it can feel really confusing on what to do and where to go. The 3 pillars of autoimmune health are:

1. Nutrition and Digestion
2. Inflammation and Immunity
3. Stress and Mindset

We have to support digestion (where 70% of the immune system lies!) and optimize nutrition, work to understand WHY the immune system is on overdrive (think leaky gut, infections, environmental exposures, stress, etc.), and calm the nervous system to create a body and life where healing can occur and take root.

As opposed to saying, "Here's a list of foods you can and can't eat, see you back in a few months!", I take a much more comprehensive approach because when it comes to chronic health issues it's the only way to get sustainable results rather than continuing to chase quick fixes. Together we go through, step by step, looking through this lens, to support your unique body to find its path to health.

I’ve had so many people reach out to me that are interested in this pillar framework, and so I wanted to share a little more about it. It’s important that you don’t feel discouraged if you’ve tried integrating healthy changes and you don’t see them affecting your whole body or making your symptoms go away… it’s just that we need to put the various puzzle pieces together to build a strong foundation and truly understand what works for your body and your health. If this resonating with you and you're interested in learning more & exploring a new way of living well with autoimmune disease, I always offer free 30-minute discovery calls for those who are interested in working together in coaching programs. I would love to hear your story and start supporting you on your healing journey!
